I'm ecstatic! On his 93rd birthday, Buzz Aldrin announces his engagement to his "long-time love."

On his 93rd birthday, Buzz Aldrin stated that he had wed his "long-time love," adding that they were "thrilled as eloping teens."

The 63-year-old Dr. Anca Faur and the retired astronaut, who was the second person to set foot on the moon, reportedly wed in a private ceremony in Los Angeles.

He announced his engagement on Twitter, writing: "I am thrilled to inform that my longtime girlfriend Dr. Anca Faur and I have sealed the knot on my 93rd birthday and the day I will also be honoured by Living Legends of Aviation.

In a modest, private ceremony in Los Angeles, "we were joined in holy matrimony and are as excited as eloping teens."

Aldrin posted two pictures from the wedding, one of himself wearing a sharp suit and the other of Dr. Faur wearing a sparkling gown.

He achieved his greatest fame as a member of the Apollo 11 lunar mission in 1969, when he and Michael Collins were propelled to the moon's surface.

Aldrin is the only one of the three well-known astronauts who is still alive today.

Aldrin left NASA in July 1971 and held the position of commandant of the Aerospace Research Pilot School at the Californian Edwards Air Force Base until he left the Air Force in 1972.

After that, he wrote nine books and founded the Human SpaceFlight Institute, a think tank that will officially start later this year.

The executive vice president of Buzz Aldrin Ventures LLC, Dr. Faur holds a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, according to LinkedIn.

Aldrin has previously been married three times, all of which resulted in divorce.

With his first wife, Joan Ann Archer, he had three children: James, Janice, and Andrew.
